In particular, they revealed what names are among their main influences, but also the ones they would like to collaborate with, the experiences and thoughts that led them to create their homonymous EP, the difficulties they faced in their career so far, their collaboration with the legendary producers Catherine Marks (Foals, The Killers, Wolf Alice) and Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, The Smashing Pumpkins, Queens Of The Stone Age), who also took over the production of this record-breaking attempt!

Read what they had to say for all the above in the interview they gave to SounDarts.gr, below!

Hello and welcome to SounDarts.gr! How would you introduce yourselves to the Greek audience? Who are allusinlove and how would you describe your sound?

Greetings! We are an alternative rock band from Leeds! We’re also 4 happy smiley individuals with a passion for making beautiful noise to make you feel good. Our sound is broad with a lot of psychedelic and hard rock influences. We love a good melody and we there’s nothing we enjoy more than playing music live.

How did you meet and how were allusinlove (allusondrugs) formed in the first place?

We all met around the Leeds area as everyone in the band was already playing music in different projects. We had known of each other from previous gigs and nights out so we started hanging out as new friends. One evening, after a hazy conversation outside a pub, the first version of the band was born. We all connected extremely well musically because of a very similar taste in bands. The idea of forming a new band between us seemed exciting and we wanted to go for it.

“All Good People” is the first taste of your forthcoming EP, produced by the legendary Catherine Marks and Alan Moulder. How was your collaboration with them?

It was an amazing experience. Catherine was excellent to work with and she really had everything under control in the studio. She understood straight away what kind of band we wanted to be and she had some amazing ideas. There were some truly magic moments shared with both Catherine and Alan during the recording and mixing of the album. Thanks to them both we have been able to achieve a sound that we are very proud of.

Which is your favorite song from you latest EP and why?

Bad Girls is probably our favorite because it is the most experimental song we’ve done. The whole progression of the guitar riff is based around a constant loop that never actually changes it’s structure. The song loops through various different sections and the lyricism focuses on insecurities within a darker relationship between two broken souls. There’s also a hippie drum circle we recorded over the middle 8 which gives the song a real tribal feel.

Are there any interesting stories behind the writing of the songs on this EP?

Most of the songs on the EP were finalized over the freezing cold winter of 2017 – we were in our rehearsal room every day and we were working hard to get songs finished for the season. During the writing process we were trying to engineer receiving our first major record deal. There was a lot of meetings and a lot of waiting around that prompted many thoughts like ‘is this record deal still going to happen?’ ‘what if it doesn’t happen?’ & ‘ok maybe it’s not happening’ – I think that raised a lot of different energies and behaviors within us and this reflected in parts of our music. Our track Full Circle in particular is about how the band and the situation around the band has travelled through many different dimensions without ever going back to the same place. Essentially we’re right back where we started now except we’re in a totally different setting with totally different circumstances.

If you had the chance to collaborate with one of your favorite artists, who would you choose and why?

I think a collaboration with an ambient or EDM artist would be incredible – someone like Tyco or Bonobo ..or a really alt rock artist like Blood Orange or Grimes.

What are your musical influences and to what extent have they influenced your song-writing?

Some bands we love and are influenced by are Deftones, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Jimi Hendrix, My Bloody Valentine, Pixies, Ghost, System of a Down, Led Zeppelin etc.. basically anything with a good rhythm, guitar driven with a good melody and exciting drums. Anything we see live played with feeling will always influence us in some way or another. We are also very influenced by situations we may face in life, good and bad experiences, reading books, films and even dreams. Sometimes just the desire to create a song!

Did you face any major difficulties in your career until now? Did you have to take any hard decisions that could affect you?

We have been in some tough spots but we have always managed to break free. I imagine all bands at all different levels go through their own personal experiences no matter how high or low. It’s all about how you stick together through these times and keep going as a unit. The hardest thing we had to do was stop working normal jobs full time so that we could go on tour full time. Early level touring doesn’t really pay you anything until much later down the line so it was very hard to stay sustained while the band was growing. It was the bridge between having no money and doing the band full time that was the hardest to cross.

What are your business plans for the near future?

Many tours and lots of new music. Oh and videos!

How do you imagine allusinlove in the next ten years from now?

On top of the world.

What is your motto in life?

Be amazing, be kind.

Finally, would you like to share a message with all your fans out there?

‘Keep loving! Allusinlove x’
