Ella pours her heart into every note amongst compelling production, demonstrating her immense versatility as a singer-songwriter.

Her positive attitude combined with her talent and her love for music makes her stand out and shows a promising bright future in the music industry.
Certainly, there’s more to come, and Ella is not hesitating to share all her thoughts about her love for music, her plans and her ambitions with all of her fans, in a confident and honest interview, which you can read below.

I would like firstly to start with an introduction of yourself. Who is Ella Poletti and what she wants to transmit through her music? Also, how it was born your love for music and what was the moment in your life you thought that this is what you want to do?

I’m Ella Poletti and I’m a singer-songwriter from… well I’ve kind of lived in a lot of places! I really hope that people get strength from my music – the message I try to transmit is to always keep on your path no matter who tries to tear you down along the way. Staying confident with yourself is so important.
My love for music was born when I was about 6 years old. My Grandpa gave me a karaoke machine and I fell in love with singing ever since. I never put that mic down… and I don’t plan to for as long as I’m around!

It has been a while since you started introducing yourself through covers of songs on YouTube and Musical.ly, gaining increasingly views and building a strong network of fans who support you in every step. Would you say this was easy to do? What were the difficulties you faced?

To this day I love singing covers for fun, especially bringing new meaning to songs that I love. But the difficulty with the covers is that it’s not my own lyrics and I want to release my own thoughts into the world. I find it more raw and rewarding sharing original music.

Nowadays internet and social media are strong tools for an artist, giving him/her a means to easily communicate with their audience. What is your point of view on that?

Social media definitely has its downfalls but the fact that it’s so easy to communicate with fans (and they’re just a click away)… I think that’s amazing! Reading all of the thoughtful messages and comments I get supporting my music is incredible and I’m so thankful for that.

As we mentioned before, you succeeded in a short time to create a network of fans, who have recognised your talent and they follow you in every step. What are the messages you usually receive? Also, has there ever been any negative one and how do you respond in that?

I feel so lucky that I get so many supporting comments and messages from my fans… it’s so encouraging. I want to be a role model for my fans and help them through whatever they are going through with my music, so to hear that I have inspired someone makes it all worth it.
When it comes to negative comments, honestly I don’t even think it’s worth responding to. Hate develops from insecurity and it’s not worth my breath to respond to hate because that person who sends a hateful message needs to deal with their insecurities in their own time.

Recently, you made your debut step, teaming up with the L.A-based producer Out There for the song “What To Do”. How it felt this process for you? Also, how did this idea of the collaboration come together?

We actually became friends before “What To Do” was even made. Out There had produced the track with everything in place except for the top line and lyrics. A few months into our friendship he showed me the song and asked if I would be interested in writing it with him and singing on it. I loved the track and the lyrics flowed out so effortlessly. It was such a fun collaboration.

Also, just few days ago we heard your brand new single “Bones”, where you delve into a darker musicality. Tell us few words on how this was created and what are your feelings on your debut independent song.

“Bones” is a bit of a darker song. The creative process took some time because my producer and I started writing it around a year ago and then it was set on the back burner whilst I was working on some other music. After a while we revisited it and fell in love with this new version, by which time I was even more excited than before about releasing this song into the world. It’s one of my favourite songs I’ve ever created.

Through your covers, but also your own music you manage to truly put passion and energy on your performance. What is your secret?

The truth is that I feel a need to be real and honest throughout everything I do… I owe my fans nothing but realness because otherwise how can we really be there for each other? All music – whether it’s a cover or my original music – is a way to express yourself and work through things and help others work through things. That’s what I hope my fans get from my music and creating music is therapeutic to me.

You are also a songwriter, something that can be difficult for some artists. How is it for you though? Where do you get inspiration from, and are there times that can be difficult to create a song?

My inspiration for my lyrics usually come from personal experiences. They may not be exact experiences but they’re all inspired by things I’ve been through. Where it can become difficult is when you experience writers block – which I have definitely experienced many times. It can be difficult to write when I’m stressed or anxious about something current in my life, so I usually wait it out and come back to writing about it when I can see the story in a more full way.

Regarding your future, how do you see yourself in five years from now? Are there any artist/s you would love to collaborate in a song?

For me it’s all about sharing my music with as many people as I possibly can and building this community of people who have experienced similar things. In five years from now I want to be touring and sharing my music with as many people as possible.
I would love to collaborate with rap artists because I’m a massive fan of rap music. It would also be a dream of mine to collaborate with Adam Levine, he’s my favourite artist.

It may be still early, but what are your plans after the release of “Bones”?

I have a lot more coming… but telling you now would spoil the surprise!

Is there any motto on your life that helps you keep going?

My motto is to just keep swimming. It’s so easy to get discouraged especially when you’re working towards your dream – whether that dream is to share your music or something else. But you can never give up… you owe that to yourself at least.

Finally, would you like to share a message with all your fans out there?

My message would be that I can’t even begin to explain to you how much all of your support means to me. I love all of you with all of my heart and, most of all, I hope that my music helps you through whatever you are going through and makes you smile.
