Surely, you have heard the song “Kiss Me” at least once in your life and we have to say that the voice behind it is Leigh Nash’s. She recalls those good days in the late ‘90s and her beautiful voice reminds us “this old but gold” success. Nash is a professional woman that she doesn’t make long-term plans, as she prefers to live every day as it comes.

As she recently released her new single “God Gave Me Horses” we discussed with her and learned that nowadays she loves storytelling. Her participation in Sixpence None the Richer was an outstanding time in her whole career, although the solo path that she follows again is also unique. As she points out, she will never forget the band’s concert at Colosseum in Rome.

The love that she feels while she connects with people is one of the reasons she arranged her following concerts. This is her medicine, as she states. What are her feelings about her most heard song, entitled “Kiss Me”? Would Nash ever try to join a band again?

If you want to learn more about Leigh Nash, you can read the interview that she gave to SounDarts.gr!

Leigh, welcome to SounDarts.gr! If you go back intime and stop in 1998, what do you remember about your musical career?

I have mostly wonderful memories! Hard work and the reward of connecting with new people with beautiful songs.

Recently, you re-released the song “Kiss Me”, the most successful anthem of Sixpence None the Richer for its 20th Anniversary. What are your feelings every time you hear it?

It’s always a pleasure, to be completely honest. I consider is a great honor to sing a song that is still so well received.

Leigh, please tell us a few words about your new song, “God Gave Me Horses”.

I am loving storytelling more than ever these days. I am really grateful that someone was open enough to talk about his personal journey- even in the middle of the hardest part. Beauty can be around every corner if we’re open.

How did the solo career occur?

I just never stopped. Music is part of me, I don’t know if I’ll ever shed that skin.

What are the advantages and the disadvantages about this choice?

I miss the camaraderie of the band. And it’s nice to have someone else to count on for drive alone. I’m a mom, my most important job, so sometimes it’s hard to balance all the plates.

What was the most unforgettable moment while you were a member of Sixpence None the Richer?

Playing a Colosseum in Rome. Sting was there, Red Hot Chili Peppers, tons of great people!

Could you rejoin a band again? And if so, under what circumstances?

I doubt it, unless it was with Matt Slocum again.

Your voice is probably connected with the song “Kiss Me”. What are your thoughts? Do you like this or does this restrict you?

I’m proud! Always an honor and a gift.

Your heartwarming songs are notable. What are your main sources of inspiration and how easy is it to write a song?

My faith, struggles and stories from people in my life and also complete strangers sometimes.

You are about to make some live shows until the end of April and in May, right? Which part of a live performance is your favorite?

I love connecting with people. Also singing is very calming for me. It’s good good medicine.

What are your future, professional plans? Maybe a studio album or a bigger tour?

I am (maybe to a fault) a big fan of letting things roll. So, no big plans. One day at a time.

If you had to describe your career till now in a sentence, what would that be?

That’s a hard one hahaha. Maybe I could edit my sentence to just one word – “interesting”
