She is only nineteen years old and although she is now taking her first steps in the music industry, the press and the people regularly compare her to Adele and Amy Winehouse! Neave Zaria with her great voice, three new singles and her passion for singing, begins her own journey in the industry and the sure thing is that she stil has a lot more to show us!

Her goal is to make music … music that she likes and foremost, music that sets her free and makes her dream. Now, if it happens for you to like it as well, even better … With a soulful mood that she likes to blend with her own emotional and musical essence, she is looking for her own personal style as a singer, without losing herself!

But who is Neave Zaria really? What are her real musical influences and what are her thoughts on the comparison she gets with the big star, Adele? What are her next, professional plans and what can we expect from her in future? These and many more are revealed by Neave herself in the exclusive interview she gave to SounDarts.gr!

Hello Neave and welcome to SounDarts.gr. How are you? Are you safe in quarantine? How has this weird period been for you?

Hello! I am safe in quarantine with my family and I hope everyone else is too. Lockdown has been difficult as many daily things and routines that I have, have been compromised but it is all for the best. I’m definitely going to appreciate the simpler things in life that once maybe I took for granted

Who is Neave Zaria? How would you introduce yourself to the Greek audience as a person and as a singer?

I am a soul singer with quirk. I like to be unique and think outside the box. But all in all, I just love singing.

People mention Adele a lot when they first hear you. Is she one of your influences? Which other artists stand out for you and why?

Adele isn’t one of my influences which is funny because many people say I do sound like her. At the moment, Jorja Smith is my favourite artist because she doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her music, she just gets it out and everyone loves it. She stands for what she believes and her voice is incredible.

What was the story or the inspiration behind your new songs “If I See You” and “You Saved Me” that we heard recently?

“If I See You” is a song about time changing the way you think but never who you really are. I guess it was me realising how my opinions have changed as Ive grown. “You Saved Me” was about a meeting with someone who changed my life and brought me througgh a very difficult time.

Lately, you are in the studio once again. Is it time to release your debut full-length studio album? What can we expect from you discographically?

We are back in the studio once again writing and recording new material. We are trying to develop a style and keep releasing singles.

If you had the chance to collaborate with your favorite artist or band, which one would you choose and why?

If I had the chance to collaborate with someone then it would definitely be Maverick Sabre. His voice has been one of my favourites for years, and I harmonise with him in the car whilst I’m driving. It would be insane to do that live.

What are your future, professional plans?

I am pushing it with the music as I’d love to do what I love for a living. If it doesn’t work, I won’t give up. I’ll keep pushing.

Apart from music, what else do you love the most?

I absolutely LOVE animals. Put me in a room of dogs, or a field of horses or cows and I will be in my element. I would live on a farm if it weren’t for my dad hahah

If you had the power to change something in the world, what would it be?

If I had all the power in the world then I would solve all the destruction. The poverty, the hunger, the racism, the environment; everything wrong with the world I would eliminate if I could. So we could all be happy and equal.

As we all experience a global pandemic due to COVID-19, do you think that something good will come out of this situation?

Yes, as we have already seen: pollution levels have decreased, the seas have become cleaner and families have been in contact more on FaceTime due to free time. However as the rules are being eased, the litter is picking back up and the world will slowly get back to what it was. After the break it’s had, I think we should learn from it and change things we do!

Do you have any unfulfilled dreams?

I have unfulfilled dreams, but that’s because I’m 19. I promise by the day I die I would’ve completed everything I want to do.

What is your motto in life?

I have many mottos in life: “live your life”, “be kind”, “persevere”, but the one I stand by most is “do what makes you happy”.

Is there anything else that you would like to add and has not been mentioned so far?

I am going to continue making music because that makes me happy, and if you like it that’s a plus!
