Είναι βέβαιο πως αν δεν ήταν ο Berry στα “Roll Over Beethoven” και “Johnny B. Goode” με το ιδιαίτερο στυλ του παίζοντας κιθάρα και κάνοντας την πάπια, σήμερα δεν θα ακούγαμε το rock and roll των Beatles ή των Stones. Δεν θα γινόταν “Βασιλιάς του Rock and Roll” o Elvis.

“We are deeply saddened to announce that Chuck Berry – beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather – passed away at his home today at the age of 90. Though his health had deteriorated recently, he spent his last days at home surrounded by the love of his family and friends. The Berry family asks that you respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Οι Rolling Stones για τον Chuck Berry:
“The Rolling Stones are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Chuck Berry. He was a true pioneer of rock ‘n’ roll and a massive influence on us. Chuck was not only a brilliant guitarist, singer and performer, but most importantly, he was a master craftsman as a songwriter. His songs will live forever.”

O George Harrison από τους The Beatles έγραψε:
“RIP Chuck Berry from the Harrison estate. The first song that The Beatles performed at their first concert in the US was Berry’s “Roll Over Beethoven” with George on lead vocals and lead guitar.”
