With a career covering more than eight years in the business, the Australian music duo of Bombs Away deliberately took their time to record their debut album and they assure us that it was worth the wait. Announcing the release of “Fragments” on Friday, June 26th, Bombs Away carefully and expertly edited a record of 13 tracks, including an intro and an interlude, and entries by some of greatest names from their homeland such as : Shadow Aspect, Backchat, Sru and Myah Marie. “Fragments” is a brilliant result that truly highlights their specialized production-techniques and demonstrates how they have evolved into the charismatic artists and songwriters that they are today.

But who are really Bombs Away? Sketch and Tommy Shades, the two brothers by whom this fantastic duo is consisted, are introducing themselves to the Greek audience through a revealing interview at SounDarts.gr, talking about their relationship, their collaborations, their influences and their artistic expectations for their band’s future, and also about their fans.

Hello Bombs Away and welcome to SounDarts.gr

Hey thanks for having us on!

As a duo you gained worldwide success with your 2011 platinum singles “Super Soaker” and “Party Bass”. How did you get in touch with electronic dance music in the first place?

It’s been a passion of ours every since we were kids and first heard it on the internet before our friends knew what we were talking about.

You recently released the single “Let You Down” for which you collaborated with Sunset City. How did this collaboration occur and what did you enjoy the most about it?

They actually live right near us in Australia, the first time we have ever worked with someone who actually was close to us instead of flying to a studio, it was great!

In the past you have also collaborated with artists like: Elle Vee, Luciana, Seany B, Dan Absent and others. If you could work with anyone in the industry, who would it be?

Alive or dead? Michael jackson! His writing in the studio was phenominal, just to be around him would be life changing.

How did you come up with the name “Bombs Away” and why did you chose the nicknames “Sketch” and “Tommy Shades”?

We actually just got Bombs Away from the side of a truck which takes old wrecked cars (bombs) away haha! Tommy got his nickname from always wearing his glasses and Sketch from being a ‘Sketchy’ motorbike rider and crashing a lot.

Which was the best gig you ever played for and why?

All of the Future Music festivals and Creamfeilds festivals were amazing, nothing like 10s of thousands of people knowing the words to songs you wrote in your bedroom!

You have also remixed a lot of songs for other artists like: Pitbull, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, Snoop, Ceelo Green and others. What makes this process so special for you?

Being able to take someone else’s piece of art, and turn it into something that has pieces of us in there is amazing.

Do you think that artists are given equal opportunities to promote their work? Which do you think are the premises for a good result?

I think with the internet now, listeners has much more opportunity to find new artists which is great! As an artist its important to remember how short peoples attention spans are nowadays.

Why did you decide to join forces and how easy is it to collaborate with your brother?

It was almost an accident, we just needed to do a show one night and we were both there and decided to play together, maybe because we knew each other so well it just worked!

Can you tell me a flaw and a virtue for one another?

Tommy works extremely hard and sometimes needs to take a break. Sketch is great at doing many things at once but needs to be more organised.

What’s your relationship with your fans? Do you recall any funny/weird incidents?

Amazing! The thing that we still find so crazy is when they get tattoos of our logos on them forever!

You have achieved great success in the music industry, both in such a young age. How do you feel about this and how has this success affected your lives?

We are eternally grateful for the luck that got us in the position we are in, and the fans that keep us there, we work 18 hrs a day to maintain it and make the most of it!

You are from Gold Coast, Australia. Have you ever visited Greece? What do you know or like the most about our country?

We haven’t yet! Its very very high on our list! We have friends over there at the moment and we’re extremely jealous!

What can we expect from you guys in the future?

More fun, more music more touring, more parties!

What is your moto?

Have fun, we aren’t here long

Is there anything else that you would like to add that hasn’t been mentioned until now?

Just wanted to say thanks for having us! We really appreceate it!
